A little History

Pupusas is a famous Central American dish that is been around since the native Indians who roamed the land known as the Pipil People, they mainly lived in the country of El Salvador. This is thought to be true after the Pompeii of El Salvador preserved many foods and artifacts from the Pipil People.The picture above shows Pupusas with salsa and the most commonly served topping know as Curtido. The image shows "Pupusas Revueltas" made from pork and cheese, however, there are many different things a Pupusa can be made of, such as Beans, Cheese,or any other meat if you'll like, and Loroco, a native plant that is found in Central America. Now you guys may be wondering, how is it made? I will gladly provide you with that below.

How To make a Pupusa

The following steps is what you need and how to make a Pupusa Revuelta, which is a style that is commonly eaten and is shown in the image above.

Materials:

1. Corn Flour

2. Water

3. Cooked Shredded Pork

4. Shredded Cheese

Steps to fold a Pupusa: These images show the process to fold a Pupusa. If this is not clear enough, you may look at a video to follow every movement.

After successfully folding the Pupusa, you will then cook it on a flat

pan like so:

The picture above is the traditional way is made in Central America, but any other way could be cooked too.

Toppings: Salsa and Curtido

This toppings is a must to serve with Pupusas, it is rare to see Pupusas being served without these toppings.

Materials for Curtido:

1. Carrots

2. Cabbage

3. Dry Red Peppers

4. Green Chile

5. Vinegar

6. Boiled Water

Materials for Salsa:

1.Green Chile

2. Tomatoes

3. Onions

4. Boiled Water
